Market Research & Competitive Analysis
Know who you are selling to before you spend a dollar reaching them.
Most small businesses pick a marketing direction from instinct and a competitor's website. That is an expensive way to find out you were aimed at the wrong customer. We do the research first — who is actually searching, in which towns, in what words, and against whom — and hand you a written plan you can act on with us or without us.
What it solves
Real problems, plainly solved.
The problem
You are not sure which customers are actually worth chasing, so marketing goes everywhere at once.
What we do
We profile who buys from businesses like yours, what they search for, and what they are worth, then rank the segments by opportunity.
You spend on the two or three segments that pay, not all of them.
The problem
You do not know who you are really competing against online, or why they outrank you.
What we do
We map who ranks for your terms, what they publish, where their links come from, and the gaps none of them have covered.
You get a named, sized competitive picture instead of a guess.
The problem
You have been told to "do SEO" but nobody has said for which words, in which towns, or in what order.
What we do
We turn the research into a prioritized plan: the terms to target, the pages to build, the towns worth the effort, and the sequence.
You leave with a specific plan rather than a vague instruction.
What's included
Everything in a market research & competitive analysis engagement.
- Target-market and customer profile analysis
- Competitor landscape: who ranks, for what, and why
- Search demand and keyword opportunity mapping
- Service-area demand by town
- A prioritized SEO and content plan
- A working session to walk through the findings
Common questions
Market Research, answered.
- What do I actually receive?
- A written report and a working session to walk through it. The report covers your target-market and customer profile, the competitive landscape with named competitors and what they rank for, search demand mapped across the towns you serve, and a prioritized SEO and content plan. The plan is yours whether or not we do the work that follows.
- How is this different from the Business Health Check?
- The Business Health Check looks inward — your operations, tools, and where time is being lost. Market research looks outward — your buyers, your competitors, and the demand around you. Businesses often do both, but they answer different questions and are priced separately.
- How long does it take?
- Usually one to three weeks depending on how many segments and towns are in scope. Research on a single trade in a few towns moves faster than a multi-location business selling to several distinct audiences.
- Do I have to buy SEO afterwards?
- No. The plan is written so you or any other provider can execute it. Plenty of owners take the research, do the easy parts themselves, and come back for the harder ones later.
